Whatnot support is changing September 1 — buyers come to YOU now

Not a Shelf-Snap change, but it lands on all of us: on September 1, 2026 Whatnot begins rolling Seller Provided Support out to every US seller account not already on it. Buyers stop taking order problems to Whatnot support and bring them straight to you, in Seller Hub and your Inbox. You get two business days to respond — and a plain message counts, you don't have to solve it in two days. Miss the window and if the buyer escalates, Whatnot refunds them and bills it back to you.

Good news buried in it: the public support rating Whatnot announced back in May is gone as of mid-August, and there's a grace rule so three missed requests won't tank your Response Rate. I wrote up the whole thing — billback math, appeals window, the new Premier Shop gate, and one place Whatnot's own two help pages contradict each other — in Whatnot Seller Provided Support: what changes on September 1.

Known issue: editing photos on duplicated items

I've found a bug involving duplicated items and I'm fixing it now. When you duplicate an item, the copy shares its photos with the original behind the scenes. Right now, if you then edit, rotate, crop, remove, or use Remove Background on a photo of either the original or the duplicate, it can delete the shared photo file — making the photo disappear on the other item.

Until this is fixed, avoid editing photos on duplicated items (or the item they were duplicated from). If you need a different photo, it's safest to re-take or add a fresh photo rather than editing an existing one. Making a duplicate is completely fine — it's only editing the photos afterward that triggers the problem. I'll update this note the moment the fix ships. Sorry for the hassle, and thank you for the patience 🙏

Teams are here 🎉 — plus numbering your way, View All Items & more

This is a big one. Teams. You can now share your ShelfSnap account, invite people in, and run your inventory together — a business partner, your kid helping you list, a VA across the country, all working from the same shared catalog. Seats and roles are included. I've wanted this forever, because listing was never meant to be a one-person bottleneck.

Numbering, your way. Take full control of how your items are numbered — set your own prefixes, separators, and suffixes, restart numbering per batch, and condense your numbers to close any gaps left behind when items sell or get deleted. Your lineup stays clean and in order.

Also in this update: View All Items — every item across every batch in one place, with search, filter, and bulk move or delete. Facebook Marketplace export — bulk CSV to crosslist beyond Whatnot (Pro). And lots of behind-the-scenes polish and fixes.

Rolling out to the App Store Sunday night. Update when it lands and tell me what you think — Teams especially, I want to hear how you end up using it 🙏

Correction: Whatnot did NOT get rid of Flat Rate shipping

In June I posted here that Whatnot was going to remove USPS Flat Rate shipping in early August. That was wrong, and I'm sorry — Flat Rate is still available. Whatnot repriced it instead.

What actually happened on July 31, 2026: Ground Advantage became the default USPS service at $7.75 for 1–5 lbs (Whatnot said that band was “expected to drop by nearly 20%”), with under-a-pound pricing from $4.47 and over-5-lb pricing from $9.69. Flat Rate stayed at a temporary $12.99 per package through November 1, 2026. Whatnot says it will reach out by early October with the price that takes effect after that.

Both articles are corrected: Whatnot Shipping 101 and Whatnot's USPS shipping changes (July 31, 2026), which has every rate.

Snap-Search, background removal, smarter sales tracking & more

This is the build I've been most excited about. The big one is Snap-Search — take a photo of your item and it tries to ID it and fill in the title and details for you. Is it perfect every time? No (vintage is HARD, you all know this) — but for a ton of stuff it gets you most of the way there and you just clean it up. I built it because I was so tired of typing out the same Pyrex descriptions over and over and OVER.

Background removal is in there too — free for everyone, every tier. One tap and the clutter behind your item is gone. No more building a perfect white backdrop if you don't feel like it.

Sales tracking got a real glow-up. Import your Whatnot sales CSV and it shows you what actually sold and your REAL net after fees — not the gross number that makes you feel rich for about five seconds. Per-item breakdown too.

Plus a bunch of photo stuff I honestly wanted for myself: crop any photo, straighten a crooked shot, and square up your cover so Whatnot's grid stops chopping your item's head off. And you can FINALLY move an item to a different batch without rebuilding it from scratch.

Oh, and there's in-app feedback now — so when something annoys you (it will, I'm one person over here) you can just tell me right there. I read every single one. Founding Partners: thank you, your notes shaped half of this list. Go update and tell me what breaks 🙏
